2. Creating an Account: SHiFT Website via 1st Party

  1. If the you already have a supported 1st Party account and want to create a SHiFT account that is automatically connected to that account, you can choose to sign up by signing directly into your first party account instead.
    1. Supported 1st Party accounts include:
      •  Steam
      • Xbox Live
      • Playstation Network
      • Epic Games
      • Twitch
      • My2K
      • Google
      • Facebook
      • Twitter
  1. Selecting any of these options will take you to the Sign In page for the appropriate 1st Party site.
  2. By signing into your 1st Party account in this way, they are authorizing Gearbox to create a platform association between their new SHiFT account and the 1st Party platform they signed into.
    • Example: If you use the Playstation Network option, you will be asked to sign in to their Playstation Network account. Once done, you will have a new SHiFT account that is automatically connected to that Playstation Network account.
  3. When creating an account by signing into a 1st Party partner account, the necessary information (First Name, Last Name, email, and password) is acquired from the account information provided by the 1st Party and applied to the SHiFT Account.

This information can be changed after the fact separately by visiting the Profile page on the SHiFT website.

Additional Information: Display Name Requirements

As part of the steps to regulate who is able to create SHiFT accounts, comply with local and international regulations, and ensure that all SHiFT everyone must adhere to the right structure of naming, there is a list of specific rules in place that all SHiFT Account Display Names are required to follow:

  1. Name must be unique. No one else in the database can have the same name.
  2. Must be between 3-16 characters long.
  3. Must start with a letter. We don’t allow display names that begin with punctuation or numbers.
  4. Limited to a-z, A-Z, 0-9, or non-consecutive underscore, hyphen, or period/full-stop characters.

Display Names are not chosen at account creation, they are auto-generated based on the provided email.  Once an account is created successfully, you can change your Display Name from the Edit Profile option on the SHiFT website. The rules above must still be followed for any changes.
